Der Haussege/House Blessing

The German house blessing is a simple ritual that anyone can do. The following is a simple outline for a Haussege.

Ingredients Needed:

1. Mugwort

2. Lighter

Starting the Haussege:

1. Start on the North side of your home.

2. Light the mugwort.

3. Ask your ancestors and the land wights to protect and bless your home.

4. Walk in a clockwise circle around the outside of your home with the mugwort, stopping at each wall and ask your ancestors and land wights to protect and bless your home.

5. Walk all the way around your house with the mugwort repeating the requests for protection and blessings.

6. Now move inside your home and walk through each room.

7. Start each room at the North wall.

8. Light mugwort again if needed.

9. Ask your ancestors and the house wights to protect and bless your home.

10. The individual rooms are blessed the same way the outside of the house is.

11. Don't forget the hallways!

12. At least once a month make offering to your ancestors, house withs and land wights.
