Havamal verse 23:
The foolish
Lie awake at night
Worried about what might happen
When morning comes
They are exhausted
And everything is as it was.
The above quote speaks of a person who is not in control of their mind. A large number of people have difficulty with calming and clearing their minds and this leads to stress and a lack of good sleep. This can be countered with proper meditation skills and spending time in nature.
Check back here for exercises on how to accomplish the above-mentioned meditations and other ways to help relax the mind and body. Our new book on Northern European Shamanism is coming out soon and we will also be offering in-person classes soon.
Here are some other quotes from the Havamal to ponder:
From log to log
Flames ignite flames
Until a fire burns
From person to person
Talk creates wisdom
The recluse stays foolish.
Common sense
Is the best luggage
For those who travel
Common sense is worth
More than gold
When you are far from home.
