This project will be multileveled and designed to help the person reading the Havamal delve into the simple as well as the deeper meanings of each verse. This is not a mystical program or a way to develop the reader into some kind of wizard. It is simply a method of study to help the reader focus on and get more out of their reading of the Havamal. So, let’s get started!
Before we get started on the first verse, let’s look at a few simple ways to just read the Havamal.
1. To start, take some time each day and work your way through a chapter from beginning to end, for a week.
a. Once the first week is done, spend a second week thinking about what you read each day. Start with the fist verse and spend a few minutes or more thinking about what is being said.
2. Spend a week reading one chapter several times.
a. See what you may have missed or if a new insight pops up.
b. Each time you read the Havamal, the reader is offered another chance; to discover knowledge they missed the last time through. This can allow the reader to understand the Havamal at whatever their level of understanding may be.
The important thing to remember when reading this book is, whether you believe a skilled, skuld or Odin wrote the Havamal, do you really believe the only understanding is one you get at face value?
Read, contemplate, and see how you can use the knowledge you gain in your everyday life.
